A leading Animal Charity based in central London, is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor for a full-time permanent role. The role will involve working in the Head Office in London, but also in the charity’s rehoming centres around the UK and in Dublin, Ireland.
The role will involve:
-Ensuring good Health & Safety practices throughout the charity
-To interpret health and safety legislation, regulations and case law for the charity, to propose policies and to communicate agreed policies to all staff throughout the organization
-To propose the steps necessary to meet statutory health and safety obligations.
-To act as the “competent person” in health and safety practice in accordance with the Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1992.
-To draft tailored guidance to managers on H& S legal requirements and best practice
-To draft H& S policy and procedures and, once agreed by the Facilities Manager and Head of Human Resources
-To provide in-house H& S Training for staff including via induction, in line with content agreed with the Training Manager
-To advise on general and specific risk assessments on and off site and safe systems of work (permit to work system)
-To manage the COSHH assessments and associated documentation, ensuring all sites have access to the most recent product information.
-The successful candidate should have a Health and Safety Qualification (minimum NEBOSH Certificate - although Diploma preferred)
-Experience of inducting staff of all levels in H & S protocols
-Experience of site auditing (HSG65) would be advantageous
-Excellent written and verbal English, and excellent planning skills
-Full, clean, manual driving licence essential – and a willingness to travel
-An interest in animals and the charity sector would be advantageous
Please note there will be significant travel in this role, so a full, clean driving license is an essential requirement.
