West Dean College of Arts & Conservation is an internationally recognised College, part of the Edward James Foundation, a charitable educational trust located on the 6,400 acre West Dean Estate in beautiful West Sussex countryside near Chichester. As well as being a highly respected educational institution specialising in practice-based arts and conservation with a low student staff ratio of 8:1, the historic house and collections and the stunning grounds and gardens make West Dean College a truly unique place to work.

 

The Role

This is a key position reporting to the Principal of West Dean College of Arts & Conservation. The successful candidate will be fully responsible for the academic leadership and management of the School of Arts, further developing West Dean’s reputation as a centre of excellence. You will oversee the complete student journey from recruitment, teaching, assessment through to graduation ensuring the delivery of an outstanding student experience alongside maintaining high academic and creative standards.

The Person

To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate previous experience at Senior Management level within an academic environment and be able to bring strong leadership experience to the role. The ability to utilise your people skills to manage the School both operationally and from a student and staff perspective is essential.

You will have a Postgraduate Degree / MA in an arts or crafts discipline and be experienced in departmental or course management within a Higher Education/Further Education environment in the creative arts or allied subject area.

As you will need to make a positive impact on joining our team of staff, you will need to be a confident communicator, with the ability to build relationships both internally and externally.
