TPP are excited to be working with an international organisation to recruit Head of monitoring, Evaluation and Learning on a 12 contract.

The Head of Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning is a key position. You will lead a small team to strengthen internal systems and processes in alignment with emerging best practices, and support quality throughout the programme cycle, from evidence-based design through effective monitoring and evaluation, to honest organisational learning and dissemination of results.

The propose of this role: You will ensure tools, processes and skills are in place to understand impact on the communities; identify opportunities for improvement; and build a strong internal evidence base of what works well and less well in different contexts. In addition, the post-holder will be responsible for developing and embedding tools and processes to ensure learning is genuinely reflected in programme design and delivery.

Some of the key tasks and responsibilities:
Provide strategic leadership in the management and ongoing development of our monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning function, supporting a culture of evidence-based decision making throughout the organisation.

Support improvements in data quality within project delivery through direct support to project teams across the portfolio
Lead the development of standard approaches to Organisational MEL, ensuring the tools, processes and skills are in place to understand the impact of our work on the communities and people we support
Support the generation and dissemination of evidence and learning internally and externally
Support BD in the design and development of quality project proposals
Deliver consistent team management and support to MEL team

This person will require:
Relevant postgraduate degree in numerate discipline (e.g. economics, statistics, applied social sciences)
Advanced academic training in applied statistical analysis
Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative data collection/ social research methods
Fluency in written and spoken English
Proven experience in developing and supporting teams to implement Monitoring and Evaluation frameworks (inc.ToCs, Log frames)
5 years' experience working with an INGO in a similar role
Experience working in Sub Saharan Africa
Experienced line manager
Experience of designing and conducting quantitative and qualitative research, particularly in a rural context
Demonstrable understanding of monitoring and evaluation tools, principles and practices
Experience in drafting clear written reports/ briefings, organisational knowledge and learning products for external and internal audiences
Advanced skills in Microsoft office tools, particularly Excel and Word
Highly numerate, confident in synthesising data to draw and explain evidence-based conclusions
Experience of training or mentoring others
Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly ability to communicate technical information clearly to a wide range of audiences
A methodical, thorough approach with attention to detail
Good interpersonal skills and ability build strong working relationships across cultures and to provide feedback in a sensitive and constructive manner
