A medium-large international development charity at the forefront of sustainable development is seeking a Head of Finance & Operations for a critical permanent hire.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in international grants finance and will be a qualified accountant. It is also essential that candidates have strong hands-on technical accounting ability, coupled with staff management experience.
Key Duties:
-Managing a team of 4 finance staff
-Total management of Finance & HR functions, reporting directly to the CEO
-Supervise, coach and mentor Finance Department staff, building a highly-skilled and motivated team demonstrating best-practice in the sector
-Financial Strategy and Management Accounting
-Financial Management, Accounting and Compliance duties
-Programme Finance & Grants Accounting
-Donations Management
-Investments Management
-Audit, Compliance and Internal Controls
-Operational and HR duties
Requirements:
-Full-qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA, CIPFA etc)
-A minimum of ten years progressive post-qualified experience in accounting and financial management, preferably in a non-profit, international development environment, with at least three years in a senior manager role
-Demonstrated direct experience of financial reporting to the Board and major donors
-Experience with contracts and grants management, including cost recovery models and revenue management, as well as donor compliance
-Strong working knowledge of financial and management accounting, cash flow management, donor and grant management, budgeting and investment management
-Strong working knowledge of audit and compliance for the UK charity sector as well as international donor requirements
-Knowledge of UK accounting standards and consolidated financial reporting
-Knowledge of grant processes, procedures and auditing requirements of various donors (eg. DFID, EC, KfW)
-Demonstrable track record of presenting and engaging to senior stakeholders, and galvanizing and motivating a team
-Willingness to and flexibility to travel abroad
