The TPP Fundraising team are delighted to be supporting the International Institute for Strategic Studies - a world-leading international research institute that provides objective information on military, geopolitical and geo-economic developments that could lead to conflict - with the search for a Head of External Relations and Development. This renowned organisation - based in the heart of London is seeking a senior development professional with a proven track record in major donor fundraising to hold responsibility for devising strategy, and instigating, cultivating and stewarding relationships to maximize research funding from trusts, foundations, corporates, government and HNWIs.

Responsibilities will include meeting income targets by designing, crafting and executing written and one-to-one appeals, engaging and stewarding existing funders, and researching and cultivating new donors to win new six-figure plus research funding.

The successful candidate will have proven experience of management and achievement in development or a similar field, have worked successfully at both a hands-on and strategic level, and be able to demonstrate a successful track record of winning large (six- or seven-figure) grants. Naturally candidates will be able to think and act strategically, be commercially aware, and have a strong business acumen. Additionally, candidates should have the ability to ensure efficient budget delivery, work under tight deadlines and be a strong relationship builder. Working to the Director of Operations, the post holder will have management and leadership responsibility for the External Relations and Development team (3 members of staff).
