The British Pharmacological Society is inviting applications for the Head of Events & Partnerships position to ensure the successful oversight and leadership of their meeting and events. The successful candidate will be an experienced team leader and collaborative team player, with an interest in life sciences and scientific meetings. The successful candidate will work closely and effectively with colleagues and Committees to deliver the Society’s various scientific meetings and events and help set future meetings strategy.

The Head of Events & Partnerships will take the leading role in developing the Society’s Meetings and Events function, reflecting the needs and scientific priorities of the community, ensuring that all activities are aligned with the Society’s overall mission and strategy. This includes strategic oversight and responsibility for the 19th World Congress of Basic & Clinical Pharmacology 2023 (WCP2023) which will be hosted by the Society on behalf of The International Union of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology (IUPHAR) in July 2023. The team are looking for someone who can bring their own knowledge and experience to help improve processes and add value for our members.

The role also has responsibility alongside other key staff members for the stewardship of strategic partnerships (both commercial and charitable) to drive impact, engagement and revenues from partners. This role is key in seeking new sustainable and ethical revenue streams for the Society.

The post holder will work in close collaboration with the Vice President for Meetings, the Meetings Committee and other high-profile stakeholders to position the Society as a leader in the dissemination of world-class research, and to ensure the Society is creating impact and advancement within the global pharmacology community through its meetings programme.
