Are you a highly-motivated and enthusiastic Grants Manager?

This role would work with the Services Director to run and grow the Grants and Advisory services. This is an exciting opportunity to add real value to a growing national charity and to make a real and lasting difference. You will be helping to improve the quality of the daily lives of people through your dedication, knowledge and strong decision making.

The purpose of this role:
The primary purpose of the role involves managing the assessment of grant applications across our small and busy team of caseworkers and administrators. You will also have your own casework load.
A further key part of the role will be to support the Services Director with managing the grant oversight and evaluation process, which includes monitoring, evaluation and reporting on our impact to the Board of Trustees and the Grants and Advisory committee. The Grants Manager will also assist with regular reviews of the grants and advisory programme's policies, systems, processes, criteria and working practices identifying opportunities to improve all aspects of the grants and advisory process.

Some of the key responsibilities:

Operational lead for Grants and Advisory team tasks including daily case prioritisation and triage, first line assessment (triage), emergency applications, weekly payments (including annuity payments) and case reviews.

Assess applications within set time-scales, in line with the grant making policy and according to our criteria.

Oversee the management of the Grants and Advisory Team's budget and spending forecasts in conjunction with the Services Director and Finance Manager.

Provide quarterly reports for the Board of Trustees and the Grants and Advisory Committee, provide the secretariat for the Grants and Advisory Committee.

Provide weekly updates for the Leadership Team in conjunction with the Services Director and Finance Manager.

Safeguarding Lead for the Grants and Advisory Team.

Maintain confidentiality in all areas of the role in line with procedures, including Safeguarding responsibilities and Data Protection legislation

Identify and ensure best practice procedures are adhered to.

Work with colleagues to foster a co-operative, flexible and team-focused environment and ensuring that all team functions are covered in times of absence.

Attend appropriate training as required and work with the Services Director to identify and implement relevant training for the wider Grants and Advisory team.

The ideal candidate:

With at least 3 years of grant management experience and good working knowledge of both the UK benefits system and the voluntary sector, you will have a charity or not-for-profit background. You will demonstrate the ability to provide exceptional support and advice to our applicants (and as applicable their supporting agents) ensuring that the charity provides the best possible service at all time.

Essential skills and experience include:

Experience of grant programme management.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
An ability to think creatively and to identify opportunities.
A good understanding of the voluntary sector and community issues
High level of computer literacy including Word, Excel and CRM databases,
A detail-oriented approach with a high level of organisational skills to effectively coordinate timelines and deliverables.
Strong commitment to the values of the charity, including equality, diversity and inclusion.
Enthusiasm, flexibility and the ability to cope well under pressure
A good team player who is able to support colleagues and engage in and contribute to team culture ensuring excellent team collaboration.
