Our client, a welfare charity, has an exciting opportunity for an experienced governance professional to join them on a part time permanent basis with flexible working based in London. You would be working alongside their legal partner to conduct a global governance review. This role also involves providing secretariat support to the Board of Directors and four of its committees. The compliance aspect of your role will require you to keep abreast with outside regulatory requirements and assist in designing internal policies and monitoring systems.

Key responsibilities for the Governance and Compliance Manager:

Work alongside your Director to implement an effective governance framework
Coordinate meetings of the Board of Trustees and Committees, including, agendas, papers
Take and publish high quality minutes for Committee and Board meetings
Ensure all governance records including correspondence and Register of Interests are updated
Develop and maintain governance policies and procedures
Carry out independent research into new developments in charity governance
Ensure that intellectual property is protected in relevant countries
Manage registration and renewals of trademarks and copyright
Carry out periodic reviews of policies to ensure they remain fit for purpose

Essential criteria for the Governance and Compliance Manager:

A legal, governance or compliance qualification is highly desirable
Experience of working in a governance, legal or compliance context is required
Experience of drafting and reviewing papers, policies or contracts
Demonstrable ability producing high quality Minutes and proofreading
Excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills, a high level of verbal and numerical reasoning
Used to working with committees and trustees
