Functional Maths Tutor - Part Time

A charity who provide vital help to homeless people are recruiting for an experienced Functional Maths Tutor who is passionate about making positive social change on a part time (17.5 hrs per week), permanent basis.

This is more than a traditional Maths Tutor role. Your role in this Charity as Functional Maths Tutor is all about providing exceptional engaging maths education to develop the confidence, self-esteem and life skills of homeless and vulnerably housed people to help end their homelessness.

Under the direction of the Curriculum Coordinator, you will deliver 17.5 hrs of functional maths learning per week, to small groups of learners during term time only. You will also contribute to the development of the functional maths programme which ranges from Entry Level 2 to Level 2.

You will not only need to hold a full teaching qualification with a specialism in maths, but will need to be skilled in being able to enhance learner progression by agreeing and reviewing objectives for each individual learner. You should have solid experience in delivering interactive and engaging functional maths including the preparation and planning of assessments and monitoring progress and providing feedback continuously and being able to adapts lessons based on the individuals' needs.

To be an effective Functional Maths Tutor in this vital charity, you will also need to have a good understanding of the impacts of homelessness on the persons' wider lives and be committed to undertaking regular reviews of housing status'. You must be able to quickly establish good relationships with a range of people and a commitment to promoting social inclusion is imperative.
