A genuinely innovative not for profit organisation focusing on urban research projects is seeking an experienced Full Stack Web Engineer for a high profile contract role.
You will be working on an international research and development project which serves as a proving ground for a better, common approach to making smart cities a reality. By fostering international collaboration between industry and cities, the project seeks to develop affordable, integrated, commercial-scale smart city solutions with a high market potential.
One of these solutions involves the generation of a city dashboard designed to help European city managers make data-driven decisions that yield positive change in cities across Europe. The team are looking for a Full Stack Software Engineer to lead the planning, management and delivery of this dashboard.
-Lead the technical conceptualisation and build of a scalable interactive web-dashboard that leverages multiple back-end systems to communicate complex concepts efficiently.
-Define and allocate the technical activities of front-end and back-end developers in the project development team, who will also be line-managed by the data science team lead.
-Liaise with domain specialists in partner cities and industry to pull in expertise on specific data needs to support their integration into the dashboard.
-Establish and promote development best practices and standards.
-Present and defend designs and key milestone deliverables to peers and executive level stakeholders.
-Facilitate the rollout of the final solution in different cities.
-You are a well-rounded professional developer with top-notch programming skills and in-depth knowledge of modern web development stacks and frameworks
-A solid understanding of how web applications work including security, session management, scalability and best development practices
-Hands-on experience with network diagnostics, network analytics tools
-Server-side JS using Node.js and application frameworks like Express
-Ability to write well-structured HTML5 and CSS to modern web standards
-Ability to architect complex web applications and interactive prototypes
-Build scripting and development tooling using tools such as: (Grunt/NPM/Bower/Browserify/Vagrant etc.)
-Experience defining, creating and using APIs
-Experience provisioning and configuring scalable server instances to host projects (Amazon EC2/RDS)
-Experience with both relational and non-SQL databases (MySQL, MongoDB etc)
-Git code versioning
