A genuinely innovative not for profit organisation focusing on urban research projects is seeking an experienced Front-end Web Engineer for a high profile contract role.
You will be working on an international research and development project which serves as a proving ground for a better, common approach to making smart cities a reality. By fostering international collaboration between industry and cities, the project seeks to develop affordable, integrated, commercial-scale smart city solutions with a high market potential.
One of these solutions involves the generation of a city dashboard designed to help European city managers make data-driven decisions that yield positive change in cities across Europe. The team are looking for a Front-end Software Engineer to help us design, build and implement this dashboard.
-Together with designers, a full-stack developer and back-end developer, you will design, implement and test a visually engaging application that communicates complex concepts effectively
-Liaise with domain specialists in partner cities and industry to pull in expertise on specific interaction needs to support their integration into the dashboard.
-Establish and promote development best practices and standards.
-Present designs and key milestone deliverables to peers and executive level stakeholders.
-Facilitate the deployment of the dashboard in different cities.
-You are comfortable working fast and making things tangible in an innovation environment, prototyping quickly for feedback and iteration.
-You are well versed in the tenets of great graphic, information visualisation and interaction design, and are comfortable supporting back-end developers with strong front-end support.
-At least 3 years of working experience in a similar role.An ability to architect complex front-end web applications and interactive prototypes.Used an agile, scrum-based way of working.
-An ability to deploy automated JS testing
-Familiarity with Continuous Integrations and Delivery
-A Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them
-Expert knowledge of version control systems (Git).An interest in full stack development (NodeJS) and have collaborated with full-stack and back end web engineers.
-Knowledge of component driven front-end development.
-The capacity to work with users and stakeholders to collaboratively develop and present software designs and outcomes.
-Desirable: Data visualisation using D3 or WebGL.
