Health Poverty Action is seeking a French speaking volunteer (expenses paid) to help with a workshop on 11 September 1.30 - 5pm and possibly with ad hoc pieces of translation for other meetings.

As an NGO headquartered in the Global North Health Poverty Action believes it has a responsibly to address the damaging policies and practices by actors in the Global North that create and sustain global poverty. That includes the way the global economy is structured and issue such as trade, tax, climate change and the so called 'war on drugs.'

Like many, we believe dominant narratives about aid and charity emanating from the global North are a barrier to this, as they sustain power imbalances and distract from action on the root causes of poverty.

We have a project to research the impacts of these narratives on action to address poverty, and to develop and test alternative messages that can be effectively used to communicate about the root causes of poverty.

We are supported in this work by an advisory group of activists and communications experts, predominantly from the Global South. We are seeking a volunteer to translate for French speaking members of the Advisory Group at a workshop for this project (afternoon of 11 September) and possibly at 2- 3 other meetings over the course of the project (approx. 2 hours each)

If you are fluent in French and English and able to help please contact n.sharples@healthpovertyaction.org
