A small and diverse Animal charity in North London is seeking a skilled Finance Officer for a 1 year Fixed Term contract position to cover maternity. The organisation are a dedicated and friendly charity and the forefront of campaigning, investigating and educating on animal testing. They have been established for nearly 120 years.
The role will involve:
-Administer the purchase ledger for the charity and its group of companies
-Hold responsibility for the day-to-day administration of the sales ledger for the charity and its group of companies
-In close cooperation with colleagues in the Fundraising & Development Team, process all voluntary donations; reconciling receipts to the banking ledger within the accounts system accurately and in a timely fashion, and prepare on a quarterly basis the organisation’s Gift Aid summary for submission to HMRC.
-Working with the Finance Manager, undertake the organisation’s bank reconciliation process for all accounts and card ledgers; ensuring that all statements are checked and reconciled to the system in an accurate and timely fashion
-Assist the Finance Manager with month end close procedures by undertaking accounting journals to reconcile the organisation’s sales ledger, purchase ledger, banking ledgers, and inter-company transactions
-Ideally part-qualified ACCA, CIMA, ACA etc or Degree qualified
-Excellent track record in a similar accounting role; with a hands-on approach to the management and administration of sales, purchase and banking ledgers.
-Proven technical experience and ability in the preparation of supporting documentation for balance sheet items such as fixed assets, prepayments, petty cash and accruals.
-Ability to reliably undertake Bank and monthly reconciliations and journal posting.
-Familiarity with the charitable and not-for-profit sector (desirable)
-Experience of having used SAP accountancy software would be an advantage (desirable)
