A prominent education charity based in Carshalton, Surrey is seeking a skilled Finance & Database Officer for a 1 year Fixed Term Contract position.
The charity has a specific focus on Special Educational Needs (SEN) so ideally the successful candidate will have experience of educational services within a local authority.
Strong Excel is required for this role.
Duties:
-To provide support to the SEN Team by maintaining and developing the SEN database so as to maximise its use as a management and planning tool.
-To administer inter authority payments for special schools, independent and non-maintained schools, hospital and individual tuition and education other than at school
-To provide support to the Senior Finance and Database Officer in the preparation, compilation and monitoring of SEN budgets
-To undertake research and provide information, including statistical and financial data for inclusion in reports and for budget meetings as required by senior officers.
-To work closely with the SEN Projects Officer in providing financial and statistical information required for projects relating to special educational needs.
-To maintain and regularly update detailed financial records on the cost of Other Local Education Authority
-To identify, in consultation with the Senior Finance and Database Officer, maintenance and development priorities with regard to the SEN database. To schedule allocated time to address these on a regular basis, in order to maximise the potential of the database as a management and planning tool.
-To work closely with Team colleagues involved in the statutory assessment process in order to improve SEN Database workflow systems relating to statutory assessment work.
-Raising purchase orders
-To lead on advice and training to SEN colleagues arising from changes and updates to the Database.
-To liaise with and attend user group meetings with Synergy (software) regarding development of the Database
Requirements:
-Intermediate/advanced Excel - prior experience manipulating data on Excel / pivot tables
-Exposure to educational services or SEN within a local authority setting (desirable)
-Experience of compiling statistical and financial data to support financial systems and control of budgets
-Experience in maintaining and developing Information Technology systems to manage financial and administrative processes
-Ability to make full use of information technology systems including word processing, spreadsheets and database software
-Ability to consult and negotiate effectively and diplomatically with schools and other LEAs
-Educated to at least GCSE level
