Are you an External Communications Manager looking a new opportunity?

If so, we have a fantastic opportunity for an External Communications and Projects Manager to join a not-for-profit organisation who are specialists in supporting and delivering mental health, learning disabilities, homelessness and young people services across London and the South East. They help thousands of people with a wide range of needs by providing tailor-made support, care and accommodation services.

As External Communications and Projects Manager, you will manage and deliver their external communications programme. This will include press, PR, media relations, stakeholder engagement and events. Working within a small but passionate team who are true to the organisations core values, you will identify, develop and deliver content generated from across all features of the organisation, its workforce and its customer base.

Role purpose:

  • As External Communications and Projects Manager, you will ensure their external communications position and promote the organisation as an innovative, high-quality organisation, a provider of highly specialised services and an excellent employer.

  • To raise their profile across identified key audiences and stakeholder groups through a variety of activity.

  • Work with the digital lead and any externally commissioned support, to ensure all channels are accessible, engaging, and relevant and in line with their brand guidelines, and that content is regularly reviewed and updated

  • Plan, manage and deliver a series of targeted events to raise their profile across targeted stakeholder groups.

  • To deliver broader communications projects that support the delivery of the organisation's communications and other key strategies.

  • To protect their brand and safeguard its reputation through brand guardianship and crisis management.

  • Lead on award entries and applications as part of their profile-raising activity

  • Support the promotion, publication or launch of new services, initiatives, or relevant research, through publications, press work and events

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Increase the organisation's profile across targeted media, and with influencers and partner organisations to support business growth and brand awareness.

  • As External Communications and Projects Manager, you will support the organisation's PR and media ambitions, sourcing and drafting appropriate stories and features for specialist, trade and national press

  • Work closely with the digital lead to increase the organisation's online brand awareness and build their reputation as an excellent provider of specialist care and support services.

  • Oversee the management of a case study database to support marketing, business development and media/PR activity.

  • Work with Business Development Team to identify and engage with targeted stakeholders (including MPs, councillors, decision makers, trusts and commissioners) through series of regular communications, service visits and events

Your experience will include:

  • Proven track record and experience of working in a press, PR or communications role

  • Excellent written and verbal English skills

  • Experience or strong, demonstrable interest in working in the non-for profit/social care/housing sector

  • Strong editorial background and the ability to independently manage projects

  • Event management experience desirable
