We are looking for enthusiastic and driven individuals to assist with our pop-up restaurant, Conflict Café.
Conflict Café celebrates the power of food to break down barriers and get people talking. Diners join communal tables, where they are treated to a feast of traditional dishes from countries that have experienced conflict around the world.
Great food is at the heart of Conflict Café, but it is also an informative and interactive dining experience where you get to know more about the country highlighted. For more information, visit conflictcafe.org.
You will be responsible for engaging with the diners and ensure things run smoothly, as well as helping with different aspects of the event, from set-up to serving food and drinks during the event.
We are looking for a team of highly organised and positive team players, ideally with restaurant or catering experience, and who are available in the evenings during the weekday and weekend from 17 to 24 September.
We are also looking for people who can demonstrate skills or experience in photography and/or video/filmmaking.
What we offer
An opportunity to be part of a friendly and busy team that delivers an innovative way of talking about peacebuilding through food.
Volunteering will present opportunities to meet a range of interesting people and learn more about the fascinating work of peacebuilding.
Successful volunteers will also be written a reference to help with future employment.
We reimburse lunch expenses of up to £5 a day for volunteers working a minimum of four hours per day.
Volunteers will also have their travel within London (via public transport) to and from the venue reimbursed, but are encouraged to travel after 9:30am when possible.
How to apply
To apply, please send a CV and brief covering letter to email@example.com, stating why you would like to volunteer for Conflict Café, any relevant restaurant experience you might have and highlighting any particular skills you have (e.g. events planning, multimedia, photography, social media, etc.).
Please also state your availability during the period, from 17 to 24 September. In particular:
- Daytime 17 September
- Evenings 18, 21, 22 and 23 September (5-11pm)
- Daytime 24 September
The deadline for applications is Friday 24 August 2018 (5pm UK time).
As it is unlikely that we will be able to obtain a work permit for this role, all job applicants must already have the right to work in the UK.
