Sense is a national charity that has been helping people who are deafblind and with sensory impairments to enjoy more independent lives for over 60 years. Founded in 1955 as a support group for parents of children with congenital rubella syndrome, today, Sense has grown into a large, successful and influential charity that continually strives to enable the people they support to be full and active members of society.
Sense is continuing to develop, opening TouchBase, an exciting new centre and cementing their commitment to social care. They have a developing social enterprise agenda along with an exciting Arts & Wellbeing portfolio, committed to innovation and quality. This is an exciting time to be joining Sense, which is moving forward with its 2016-19 corporate strategy “Growing, Stronger, Together”.
A key supplement to this is a new Supporter Engagement strategy which provides a clear direction for the organisation over the next 3-5 years. As Director of Supporter Engagement, your primary focus will be lead to the team and implement this new strategy, which aims to inspire and motivate more people to connect and contribute to the work of Sense. You will work to increase the amount of fundraised income that is generated annually, specifically from: individuals, major donors, challenge event participants, community sources, trusts and foundations, statutory sources and corporates in addition to leading marketing and communications to Supporters.
You will have a track record of leading a similar function within a not-for-profit organisation, and of raising significant levels of fundraised income from a diverse range of income streams. You will have strong analytical and strategic planning skills, be a confident communicator, and have an in-depth knowledge of the fundraising market and regulation. You will be comfortable leading change and encouraging new ways of working.
