The National Youth Agency (NYA) is the national body for youth work –
a vital, but under-recognised discipline that works to ensure that young people are better able to live more active and fulfilling lives. Supporting a community of over 10,000 youth workers in England, the NYA’s vision is rooted in a steadfast belief in young people and their ability to shape the world. By championing, professionalising and enabling youth work, the NYA strives to find better, more inventive ways to empower more young people.
The NYA has a bold new 5 year-strategy – in order to deliver against this, a new Director of Growth role has been created to lead on the design and implementation of a fundraising and sales plan. Working to an inspirational CEO and alongside a highly engaged Board this role will lead a small but motivated team and take responsibility for driving income generation by setting and achieving fundraising goals, cultivating relationships with funders and maintaining knowledge of funders’ interests. The Director of Growth will also be responsible for maintaining the NYA’s external profile and social media presence.
You will have a proven track record in Business Development and/or fundraising and motivated by the opportunity to design and implement a new organisational income generation strategy. You will thrive in a hands-on senior leadership role, have experience of leading a small team, possess strong interpersonal skills and have experience of working with bids and tenders and/or trusts and foundations. This is a home-based role with a remit across the whole of England – regular (1 day every fortnight) attendance at the NYA head office in Leicester will be essential in addition to periodic meetings around the UK as required.
