TPP’s client, a bespoke charity set up to develop key independent living skills and empower disabled people in its local area is seeking 2 creative, energetic and positive Development Workers, 1 will be initially to cover maternity on a fixed term contract for over 12 months.
Our client is a charity whose key focus is to develop the independence of their students and empower them to understand and make choices in life. This is achieved by developing specialised workshops which meet 6 core outcomes. Working with the student, their family and professionals; an in-depth assessment is completed and a personalised timetable is drawn up to meet their personal needs and goals. An example of some of these goals would be; to travel to college unaided, to cook a healthy meal, to play an instrument. This timetable is often amended following progress reviews where goals are met, extended or amended based on the students’ choices. Over 50% of their income comes from personal budgets, and over 90% is spent on charitable activities.
The centre runs workshops throughout the week and is heavily reliant on the time, passion and efforts of the committed staff and volunteers. The development workers are the heart and soul of the charity, they are the professionals who run the workshops and conduct key work sessions with the students to make sure they are achieving their personalised goals and that their wellbeing is being met at all times.
The Development Workers will be responsible for individual students; they will conduct the initial assessments along with the Service Manager, and set agreed goals with the students and a person centred support plan based around the core 6 outcomes. The goal is to develop each students’ independent living skills whilst encouraging and empowering them to make their own choices along the way.
