An estimated 1 million people world-wide have Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (“TSC”), and each month 10 babies are born in the UK with TSC. The Tuberous Sclerosis Association’s main objectives are to support individuals affected by TSC, together with their families and carers, to encourage and support research into the causes and management of TSC and to provide education and information. The TSA are at an extremely exciting time with their recent activity, including work with the international community towards early trialling of a drug which could lead to life-changing results and a fierce campaign to persuade the NHS to provide funding for treatment.

Due to planned rotation on the Board, they are now looking to replace the outgoing Deputy Chair (DC). The DC will support, and deputise for, the Chair as required, in holding the CEO and Board to account for delivering on the TSA’s mission and vision. This is a leadership role and the successful candidate will work with the Chair to ensure that Trustees fulfil their duties and responsibilities for the effective governance of the charity. There will be four Board meetings per year, an AGM, and finance committee meetings which the DC will be expected to attend. He or she will act as an ambassador and public face of the charity in partnership with the Chair and CEO representing the TSA at various events and meetings, raising its profile and supporting campaigning and fundraising.

The TSA are looking for someone with significant Board level experience who is a strategic thinker with a good grasp of governance, who is entrepreneurial and commercially astute. He/she will be a natural networker with strong connections who has the ability to bring people to work collaboratively, particularly in sourcing additional funding streams. Ideally, he/she will have been involved in successfully campaigning for another charity. If you are looking to join a Board during a very exciting time then please get in touch with us by sending a copy of your CV to

The closing date is 9am on Friday 15th April.
