Data Insights and Donor Relations Manager - Interim

Our client a large housing charity are seeking an interim Data Insights and Donor Relations Manager to support them for a 3-6 month interim basis e from 22nd August.

To lead the data insights, donor segmentation and donor relations function. Lead on providing support to enable us to base our fundraising strategy on supporter lifetime value, in line with our income growth path by: Managing, maintaining, developing, utilising and training the fundraising team on the Raiser's Edge database as an effective fundraising, segmentation and analysis tools to manage all aspects of donation processing, Gift Aid and donor relations.

Main duties: 

- Management of the Raisers Edge database to ensure that it is up-to-date, accurate, accessible, coded and segmented effectively, making continuous improvements to ensure our data is clean, used effectively to maximise long-term supporter contribution, has a high degree of integrity and that our processes are Data Protection compliant. Responsible for managing the relationship with and to carry out operational liaison with Blackbaud.

- Oversee and carry out complex data selections for fundraising appeals, propensity modelling and direct marketing activity, ensuring the highest standards of data quality and appropriate segmentation.
- Ensure all Raisers Edge users (c 30 fundraisers) are fully trained in the relevant aspects of database functionality and to provide technical support when required.
- Manage the relationship with data entry and fulfilment agencies and ensure that their gift and Direct Debit processing, supporter acknowledgements and fulfilment are carried out to the highest of standards. To be the key contact for all bank issues related to supporter donations.

- Oversee the monthly Bank Reconciliation of the overall fundraising income to finance (circa 7.5 million for 2014/15). Ensure that the information is accurate and timely: deadline of 15th each month, matching Raisers Edge with the bank statements and resolving complex issues around gift collection and administration.

- Providing guidance to the whole fundraising team on the appropriate Gift Aid wording to ensure Gift Aid can be legitimately claimed, and on all available tax efficient giving schemes to help maximise income, such as donor events, payroll giving and the small donations scheme.


Significant experience with large datasets, segmentation and complex data selections with proven expertise in Raisers Edge or a similar database, advanced Excel skills.

Experience of using the database to extract and present management information to inform future decisions about specific types of fundraising (e.g. attrition reporting, income by channel/provider/region, analysis of appeals).
Line management experience, including staff training and development.
Experience in the voluntary sector (particularly Direct Marketing principles), with specific experience of managing donor relations, donation processing and external fulfilment agencies and expenditure budgets.
Experienced in database management and data management tools and techniques, including the Data Protection Act, data cleaning and coding.
High level of numeracy and IT.
Understanding of the tax reclaim rules and procedures in the UK, and managing a Gift Aid claim.
Proven ability to map financial and administrative processes, including the financial reconciliation process. Ability to design and implement complex systems.

They would like candidates to be able to start on 22nd August for a handover.
