Data and Informatics Project Manager

Our client a leading hospital charity are seeking a strong project manager to support as the charity prepares for the introduction of the general data protection regulations (GDPR), in May of next year, this role will be responsible for managing this process and leading the charity to compliance - which is one of the most important projects the charity is currently facing.

Reporting directly to the Director of Fundraising, you will be responsible for creating and managing a project strategy on how the charity delivers and implements the new data protection ruling. Working proactively with the wider fundraising team, you will encourage exemplary data management and provide expert advice on best practice. You will ensure that all staff have appropriate training in data protection issues and that appropriate security measures and key policies are in place to manage personal data.

About you

In order to be considered to deliver this pivotal project you must be a reliable and experienced project manager who will be able to quickly grasp data collection and storage. An aptitude for collaborative work with key stakeholders is paramount, as is an ability to improve and implement clear guidance for the future.

You will have experience of leading a data protection function / department, experience of project management, of delivering a regulatory change and of managing a project with multiple stakeholders. You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, good presentation skills and have the ability to develop productive working relationships. You will be organised with effective time management skills and have the ability to turn legal jargon into understandable information.

The successful candidate must have:

  • Experience of data protection legislation and policy and procedure development and implementation.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and a strong track record of delivering results.
  • Excellent analytical skills including the ability to audit systems and procedures in a systematic and efficient way and to provide appropriate recommendations for improvement.
  • Strong influencing skills, experience working at all levels across an organisation, and experience of engaging strategically with external stakeholders such as regulators.
  • A data protection qualification is desirable
