Please note these are voluntary positions, open to disabled people, or those with 'lived-with' experience of disability.

Closing Date 12 February 2018

One in six people in the UK will have a disability in their lifetime, and we want to ensure they have the opportunity to live their lives as freely and fully as they choose.

Could you advise us, to help us work towards these ambitions?

Leonard Cheshire is the UK's largest voluntary sector provider of services for disabled people, including high-quality care and community support, as well as innovative projects supporting disabled people into education, employment and entrepreneurship. We also work internationally with our partners to support disabled people via education and livelihoods programmes.

At Leonard Cheshire, the views and ambitions of our customers are at the heart of our work, and we already gain customer input in several ways, including via a customer network, surveys and workshops.

We are now also forming a Customer Council as an advisory group to the Executive Leadership Team and Board of Trustees, to help further inform their decision making. This Council will look at long term issues impacting the focus of the organisation, as we look to increase both our reach and our impact.

In addition to our customer representatives, we are seeking two people who are not connected with Leonard Cheshire, to join the Customer Council to give us a broader external perspective. You will either be disabled yourself, or have lived experience of disability on a day to day basis, perhaps through caring for a relative.

We anticipate that the council will meet (remotely or in person) three times per year. We may occasionally also ask for the input of Council members in between meetings.

We are happy to support access requirements to enable your application and participation. You don't need to be able to travel, but could participate remotely.

These positions are voluntary but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with our policy on this.

Please note a DBS check may be required for this role.

If interested, please email recruitment@leonardcheshire.org for further details and an application form.
