Supporters Direct helps fans to set up democratic cooperatives (known as supporters’ trusts) to gain influence in the running and ownership of their clubs.

We exist because we are needed: The game can be better run and should be more responsive to the needs of its fans and local communities.

We work in England and Wales, Scotland and across Europe in over 20 countries.


Supporters Direct is looking for a qualified Company Secretary to the Board to support its administration and compliance.
This role is a key role in the organisation and the Company Secretary to the Board supports the Chair in ensuring that meetings are well organised and effective.

A critical role of the Company Secretary to the Board is to work with members to record their actions agreed, and dates they have been undertaken.
As a membership organisation SD is also reviewing its internal governance structure and it will work closely with members to reflect their requirements. This process will benefit from the expert support of the Company Secretary to the Board in the review and implementation of any change.

Role Title: SD Company Secretary to the Board

Board meets: quarterly for half a day, plus one strategy meeting and one AGM. 6 meetings in total

Directors: 12 (plus co-options)

Councils: England and Wales Council 4 meetings per annum

Sub-committees: currently meet as required and no more than 4x per annum

Elections: held annually

AGM: 1 per year

This is a voluntary role which requires between 1– 3 days commitment per month
