A growing charity in North who encourage and strengthen the local community have an exciting opportunity for a passionate and engaging Youth Specialist to join their team at an exciting time of growth.

The Charity bring the local community together by responding to their needs and interests and offering open-access to youth work and informal education in a community setting, delivered by specialist practitioners in their local facilities as well as local primary and secondary schools.

As the Youth Specialist, you'll lead a team of practitioners, sessional and volunteer workers to create community based opportunities for young people from about 10 years old up to about 19. Your role will focus on leading term time and holiday activities, youth mentoring and targeted interventions especially for youth drop-ins.

Using your experience of engaging with vulnerable young people, you'll develop and deliver sustainable programmes and resources that respond to the needs of the young people to build their confidence and in turn, build the community. The programmes and resources you develop will support personal and social development through recreation, mentoring, skills development and discussion groups.

You'll work with external professionals and agencies to ensure the programmes are risk assessed and you will promote safeguarding and welfare of the children you support.

To help sustain the youth centre facility, you'll also contribute to fundraising and recruiting and training volunteers to ensure positive outcomes for each young person.

To be considered for this role, you'll need to have experience of delivering community based programmes or informal/formal education programmes to young people aged 10-19, in group and 121 settings. You might have a teaching background or be a qualified youth worker for example.

You'll need to have experience of managing a staff team or volunteers and will need to be a flexible individual, often working outside of normal working hours.

If you're dedicated and passionate about bringing local communities together through youth work and informal education and engagement, please apply today!
