Chief Executive Officer
c.£55,000 + benefits
Core is the UK’s only national charity dedicated to fighting all gastrointestinal, liver and pancreatic diseases. Collectively, these diseases are a factor in 1 in 8 deaths in the UK with more than a quarter of cancer deaths caused by cancers found in the digestive system. Core is an independent charity, with close links to the British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG), supporting vital medical research and providing information to enable patients to take control of their conditions.
After a period of change, Core is seeking to employ an ambitious and outward-facing CEO with a transformational vision and vigour to lead and enlarge an initially small team. This is a “hands-on” role with a particular focus on delivering growth in income across a broad portfolio, whilst also working to raise the profile of the charity amongst BSG’s members, Research Councils, scientists, medics, patients and the public.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an entrepreneurial and ambitious leader with skills across fundraising or business development in a research organisation. Whilst you may not necessarily have worked at CEO level, you will have demonstrable leadership experience coupled with development and operational delivery of a successful income generation and profile raising strategy. You will be an accomplished networker and influencer with the ability to quickly develop a strategy for working collaboratively with other charities supporting Gastrointestinal research.
