Wanted: Cheerers for the team in Black and Green!
'The cheerpoints gave me the HUGEST boost. I looked forward to them throughout the race. Your support out there was awesome and helped me get to the finish line more than you will ever know!' - 2017 #TeamAN runner
About Anthony Nolan and the Events Team
Every 20 minutes someone finds out they have a blood cancer. For many, a bone marrow transplant is their only chance of a cure. At Anthony Nolan, we give them that chance. We match incredible individuals willing to donate their bone marrow, to people in desperate need of a transplant.
Right now, we can only find a donor for half of those who come to us in need. Our goal at Anthony Nolan is to save the life of everyone who needs a bone marrow transplant.
It costs us £60 to recruit and look after each new donor, any of whom could save a life. The more funds we have, the more lives we can save. That is why our fundraisers are so important.
The Events Team work with supporters who are taking on physical challenge events to raise money. We make sure they have a great event experience, and feel supported throughout their challenge, ensuring they have a phenomenal race day experience.
Let us c-hear you!
The Virgin Money London Marathon is one of the biggest events in the Anthony Nolan calendar - a day when so many of our amazing supporters come together to fight blood cancer.
You could help us give more people with blood cancer a second chance of life by joining Team Anthony Nolan as one of our vital volunteers.
#TeamAN runners deserve the best and that's where YOU come in. You can give our lifesavers that extra motivation they need, and know that you're saving lives too.
What the role involves
With several timings and locations there really is something that everyone can do to help - join the loud and proud ones ready to boost our runners all 26.2 miles to the finish line!
Volunteers will be at one of four official Anthony Nolan cheer points at the heart of the action along the London Marathon route. All cheering points are on the pavement along the course and can be reached by London public transport.
Your support means we can save the lives of people with blood cancer, and that's pretty incredible.
What skills and experience you need
We are looking for volunteers who are outgoing and happy to interact with the runners and other volunteers. It's important that you are happy to be in a crowded environment as race day can be very busy (but very exciting!).
If you have any special requirements or would like to discuss the role further, please contact the Events Team on 0303 303 3000 or email to firstname.lastname@example.org
What you can expect from us
All of our events volunteers are emailed a written briefing with specific role information in advance of the event and then you will be given a face to face briefing on event day. Any questions that you have will be answered before you start the role.
Volunteers will have refreshments available throughout the event, depending on the length of the shift and the location. If you have any special requirements and would like to chat to us further about the role, please contact the Events Team on 0303 303 3000 or email to email@example.com
We will reimburse public transport travel for the day of the event within London zones 1-6. We will ask you to complete an expenses form and we will reimburse you by paying the money straight into your bank account.
