SSNAP (Support for the Sick Newborn and their Parents) is an inspirational charity providing bespoke services and funding to support sick and premature babies and their parents at the John Radcliffe Hospital’s Newborn Care Unit. By funding state-of-the-art equipment, professional and volunteer family support services, family accommodation and travel subsidies, professional training, and neonatal research, SSNAP has given practical, professional and financial support to the Unit, and the families who use it, for over 30 years.
The Unit is one of the largest neonatal care units in the UK and provides specialist medical and surgical care for babies across the Thames Valley Neonatal Network. Caring for around 1000 babies each year, the Unit operates as a Centre of Excellence in Neonatal Care and has expanded significantly in recent years.
SSNAP is determined to respond to the needs of the growing Unit and the families who use it and is looking to appoint an inspirational leader to a newly created role of Charity Director. An exciting mix of strategic leadership, fundraising and operational duties, the role will include business planning, operations management, fundraising, networking and partnership development, and above all, continuing the delivery of outstanding care and support.
You will be highly empathetic and compassionate, a motivated self-starter with an understanding of fundraising and relationship building. A natural networker, you will have proven profile-raising and communications skills. Working alongside a committed Board of Trustees and skilled and dedicated staff and volunteers, you will bring drive and a passion for the cause to rapidly enhance SSNAP’s impact and the support it can provide.
