We need a charismatic and outstanding leader as our new Chair of the Board of Trustees with innovative, entrepreneurial skills and a proven track record to steer POhWER to the next level.
POhWER is the leading national charity helping over 100,000 vulnerable people every year with advocacy and information & advice so they can uphold their rights, access the support they need and make a positive difference in their own lives.
POhWER is a dynamic organisation at an important juncture in its 21 year history. We are passionate about strengthening people's voices so they are empowered. We respond proactively within a fast-changing and challenging environment.
In a climate of significantly increasing need and squeezed government budgets we resolve to reach out to many more vulnerable people who need our high quality specialist services. In cash terms Government budgets tend to increase but do not keep pace with rising needs.
Applicants must be committed to POhWER's aims and values, be a high-calibre and proven leader of a multi- million pound organisation. S/he must also be a good team player, a strategic thinker with strong business acumen and sound judgement as well as an inspirational communicator.
This is a great opportunity to lead an organisation that has grown from a visionary group of largely disabled people who founded POhWER in 1996 and that has become the leading national provider of advocacy in health and social care. At present we have over 400 staff and a network of volunteers.
