A social mobility charity that prepares bright young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to gain meaningful careers are now recruiting 3 new Careers Development Managers due to growth in the organisation.

This role is largely homebased with delivery of workshops based in either South London, Merseyside or Manchester on occasion (1 candidate per location). The salary will be offered at £28k on a full time, permanent basis.

As the Careers Development Manager, you will be the main point of contact for young people aged 16 -24, acting as a role model and inspiring young people. You will be committed to improving the lives of young people from disadvantage backgrounds and will have good knowledge of social mobility, diversity, and inclusion issues.

You will focus on the development of young people into meaningful careers and lead the delivery of workshops to your cohorts to improve their employability, e.g., interview techniques, and to enhance their personal and leadership abilities, e.g., critical thinking. Offering different programmes, young people may study for a qualification as part of the pre-employment phase, and you will help them to achieve that qualification.

You will also monitor the progress of each young person and liaise with their employer where necessary, mostly at line manager level, and monitor the performance of each young person through their apprenticeship studies, liaising with the training provider as appropriate.

To be considered, you will have experience in working in either career development, employability and/or education. You will have some experience working and managing groups of young people (post 16) and be able to demonstrate an understanding of mentoring and coaching.
