Careers Development Manager

We are working with a Charity that works with bright young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, ensuring they find meaningful skilled careers to recruit a Careers Development Manager to develop and support cohorts of young people, aged 16 -24.

This role is homebased with delivery of workshops largely in the London area on occasion.

As the Career Development Manager, you will be the main point of contact for the young people who the charity supports, you will act as a role model and inspire young people. You will be committed to improving the lives of young people from disadvantage backgrounds and have a good understanding of social mobility, diversity, and inclusion issues.

You will focus on the development of young people into meaningful careers and lead the delivery workshops to your cohorts to improve their employability (e.g., interview techniques) and to enhance their personal and leadership abilities (e.g., critical thinking). Depending on the programme, young people may study for a qualification as part of the pre-employment phase, and you will support them to achieve that qualification.

You will also be responsible for monitoring the progress of each young person and liaising with their employer where necessary, mostly at line manager level, and be responsible for monitoring the performance of each young person through their apprenticeship studies and liaising with the training provider as appropriate.

To be considered, you will have experience in working in either career development, employability and/ or education. You will have some experience working and managing groups of young people (16+ years) and be able to demonstrate an understanding of mentoring and coaching.

This role will also be suited to someone who can engage with young people and have a strong interest of the issues that affect social mobility.
