At Futures in Mind we support a range of people affected by substance/alcohol misuse and mental ill health in their recovery. As a volunteer befriender or peer mentor, you will provide one to one support to an individual on their journey to recovery from mental ill health and/or substance/alcohol misuse. You will provide company, support, and encouragement to individuals who may feel isolated and lonely, so they can re-engage with their community and take part in activities. Those who take part in our mentoring will be able to provide more structured support, and also gain an NCFE qualification in mentoring!
No specific skills required, just be open, honest, non-judgemental, friendly and willing ton help with however much time you can commit. Any time you give a long way to helping people in their recovery. All DBS, training, and expenses are provided by Futures in Mind.
