Volunteers are urgently need to help and support isolated people in Newport. Your time can help make a massive difference to someone's life.
Imagine longing to go out but not having the confidence to do so alone. This is a reality for many older people. They may worry about mobility difficulties, getting lost due to early dementia or just don't see the point as they'll have nobody to talk to. Your time can make a massive difference to somebody who really needs it.
Volunteer Community Befrienders are needed to accompany and support someone to get out and about. You might be going for a walk, visiting a café or going to town. We are looking for reliable, empathetic individuals who are good at listening and able to travel independently by car or public transport.
By volunteering as a Community Befriender you will be helping someone to claim back their independence while also getting enjoyment out of it yourself. Your volunteering can fit around your other commitments and you only need to be able to give a couple hours a week.
All volunteers will have to undergo a DBS check and supply 2 character references.
