A very successful national education charity who support young people with SEND are looking to appoint an Assistant Head for Pupil Support and Welfare for their north London based, non-maintained special school for pupils from Early Years to Post 16.

This role will be appointed on a permanent, full time basis at a salary range of £48k - £57k with a start date of January 2020.

With an Outstanding Ofsted rating and nearly 100 pupils, this school is supported by staff who are committed to providing high quality, specialist teaching to improve the lives of young people with SEND. This is an exciting time to join, as the charity launch their new strategy, working more collaboratively and effectively for their learners.

While there is no direct teaching involved in this Assistant Head role, it is important that you come from a qualified teaching background and with experience in an SEN school.

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you'll report to the Head of School and will be responsible for managing a transdisciplinary Pupil Support and Welfare team consisting of a Health/Therapy Professional Lead, Senior Behaviour Lead and Care Medication Lead.

Your role will be to implement, monitor and manage a collaborative practice among the specialist disciplines so you must have a good understanding of how these disciplines can work together effectively with a uniform approach.

This role is also the Safeguarding Designated Lead for the school, responsible for child protection across the school and ensuring school staff are aware of how to raise safeguarding concerns and are trained on how to produce records and make referrals to the Local Authority.

Do you have…?
A teaching qualification
School leadership/management experience
Extensive experience working with pupils with SEN
Experience in pupil welfare and behaviour
Experience of being Designated Safeguarding Lead
Experience operating school policies such as school development plans, medication and ultimate care procedures
