‘Fierce Conversations' generate commitment and engagement, lessen fear of conflict, promote accountability, and role model the behaviours needed to build a culture of trust and psychological safety.
Conversations are the work of the leader, and the workhorse of an organisation. What gets talked about, who is invited and how it’s talked about, determines what will, or won’t, happen in an organisation.
And everyone within an organisation makes up the culture, not just the ‘leaders’. But while it's the responsibility of every individual to create a healthy culture, it's knowing what to talk about and how to talk about it, that makes all the difference in creating this sense of trust and psychological safety.
On this short taster session, you will have immediate opportunities to practise the conversations central to personal and organisational success, using topics and actions sourced from your current challenges.
Speaker, Dr Naomi Irvine, People Development Associates
Dr Naomi Irvine is an accredited Fierce facilitator. She specialises in helping individuals to find their voice in complex organisations, focusing on gender empowerment, courageous conversations, personal effectiveness, leadership development, coaching, and mentoring.
Naomi has extensive experience of the higher education sector. In an employed capacity, she oversaw the successful revalidation of the institutional HR Excellence in Research award, and worked on departmental and institutional Athena SWAN submissions. In her self-employed capacity, notable assignments include dignity and respect, anti-bullying and harassment interventions, and leadership development for heads of departments to raise levels of individual and organisational performance following restructures.
She is an experienced facilitator of reflective practice, culture change, workplace learning and career development. She has extensive professional experience in research, business development, organisational development, and equality and diversity functions.
