Direct Marketing jobs, such as Direct Marketing Officer, Executive & Manager, focus on support from individuals that choose to donate on a monthly basis. Many of the responsibilities and skills below also apply to Individual Giving jobs.
Responsibilities & Duties for Direct Marketing Roles
Fundraising support and direct marketing jobs are often separated into the recruitment of new supporters (acquisition) and retaining those that already donate and support the charity (retention). The supporters are engaged using multiple marketing channels like TV appeals, paper based mailshots, inserts, newsletters, e-marketing and all forms of digital marketing and new media tools such as social media and the internet to promote the organisation’s message and gain continued support for the charity.
Skills Required for Direct Marketing Jobs
Direct marketing jobs in fundraising require individuals that are analytical in their approach and are often creative when looking at all the marketing channels they use to generate further support from the individuals. They will be able to track the successful donations and data generated from each campaign and then provide data to senior management to show which campaigns or appeals have been most successful in generating income.
Direct marketing jobs are often quite prominent within fundraising and attention to detail and data management is essential in order to successfully target supporters of the charity.
