Vocational Tutoring roles focus on the teaching of hands-on skills such as retail, construction, health and social care, business admin etc. Assessors then review portfolios of learners to ensure they meet the correct standards required to practise the trade officially in the working world. 

Responsibilities & Duties for Vocational Tutors and Assessor Roles

  • Ensuring students meet the requirements to practise their trades in the real world and earn a living
  • Planning, delivering and assessing engaging lessons which aim to help students develop new skills to put into practice
  • Working as part of a larger community including working with employers, examination body officials and other education professionals

Skills Required for Vocational Tutor & Assessor Jobs

You must have either PTTLs, DTTLs or CTTLs to teach subjects, and assessing qualifications to assess the subjects. You must also have relevant experience within your specialist area. You must also be willing to complete, or already hold, a valid DBS certificate and have at least 2 years of references.
