RNLI Heritage is defined as the story of our people and service since 1824. In order to preserve our history, the heritage team collect and care for objects and archives and make these accessible to researchers.
The role of Heritage Collections Assistant offers a fascinating opportunity to join the heritage team and get ‘hands on’ with RNLI collections. You will assist the Heritage Collections Officer with many aspects of collections management including; researching objects, object handling, photographing, cataloguing, preventive conservation and helping to promote RNLI collections via social media. You will use the collections database to update your findings and be computer literate in order to search a variety of sources to complete necessary research.
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is willing to give some time to get to know the collections of the RNLI and help protect and preserve its heritage. This is a great volunteer opportunity for someone who has some experience in this area or is looking to gain new skills. If you are interested in this role, you should be a strong team player and be IT literate. In getting involved in this opportunity you will be contributing towards raising awareness of the RNLI and supporting saving lives at sea.
