Why the RNLI needs this role

This role will help us save lives at sea by raising income and support from the local community.

Potential time commitment:

Team: Fundraising & Communications

Location: Sherborne, Dorset

Responsible to: Branch Box Secretary

Responsible for: N/A


  • Complying with the Volunteer Commitment
  • Servicing, maintaining and emptying collecting boxes on a regular basis and issuing a receipt.
  • Recording the amounts raised from individual collecting boxes and passing monies to the treasurer for banking or paying monies into the branch using branch paying-in books supplied by the branch treasurer.
  • Co-ordinating and recording locations of collecting boxes within the branch area and seeking suitable additional site s for boxes.
  • Attending branch meetings.

Measures of Success

  • Increase in income from collecting boxes on previous year.
  • Increase in no. of collecting boxes placed vs. previous year
  • Maintain accurate records of box locations,
  • Ensure maximum income for the RNLI by being constantly mindful of fundraising costs vs. benefit to the charity.

Training and Support

  • Training to fulfil your volunteer role will be provided if required
  • The RNLI will aim to provide opportunities for personal development in your volunteer role.
