About the opportunity
The Springfield Neighbour Scheme are looking for male and female Walk Leaders to join their team!
Would you be able to lead or support walking groups around the local area?
The walking groups meet once a week for a gentle stroll around local parks and green spaces in Sparkhill.
The Neighbour Scheme is an exciting new project which brings local people together in activities to promote wellbeing. We are working with 6 local GP practices who refer people into our services.
About The Springfield Project
The Springfield Project is a Birmingham-based charity with a passion for our local community. We are committed to providing a safe and welcoming space in which people from diverse backgrounds can meet and receive support.
The Project developed from St Christopher's Church's commitment to supporting families in the local area and sharing God's love in our community.
We work in partnership with Birmingham City Council to deliver children's centre services providing activities and support for families with children under 5.
We run the Neighbour Scheme, a social prescription project between local GPs and the Springfield Project, working to reduce isolation and improve the mental wellbeing of adults referred by their GP or self-referred.
What are they looking for?
We are looking for individuals who are physically able to walk for up to an hour at a time. They need the ability to map and facilitate gentle walks for people who may have poor physical health.
Conversation and listening skills are essential to this role.
You must be able to sustain a gentle walk for up to an hour at a time and have good listening skills. This opportunity is outdoors and all weathers. Reasonable travel expenses can be reimbursed if necessary.
If you are interested in this opportunity, please email Rosalyn Clare at firstname.lastname@example.org saying why you would be a good person for the role, as well as your post code.
