Refugee Action Kingston (RAK) is seeking to recruit up to three individuals to join its Management Committee as trustees. Trustees are required to oversee the work of the charity, to ensure it is well governed and that it is meeting its charitable objectives. We are particularly seeking individuals with skills/experience in the following areas:

*Human resources and/or UK employment law
*Not-for-profit advice services, particularly in the areas of welfare and immigration
*Experience as a refugee/former refugee.

RAK is a charity whose work is focused on assisting refugees and asylum seekers living in the London borough of Kingston-upon-Thames and the neighbouring boroughs. The charity provides a range of services to refugees and asylum seekers in the area, including weekly English language focused learning centre sessions and advice and advocacy.

Prospective trustees must have a strong commitment to the welfare of asylum seekers and refugees as well as experience in one of the areas outlined above. Knowledge of local environment would also be an advantage. The Management Committee meets approximately every six weeks on Monday evenings in Kingston. Trustees will be required to prepare for and attend these meetings on a regular basis, in addition to occasional other evening and weekend meetings.
