Join a small international development charity committed to fighting poverty and environmental destruction in Africa & South America

We are looking to recruit two new Trustees to strengthen and diversify our Board. As a small charity we are looking for 'hands on' Trustees who wish to actively contribute towards the success and future strategic development of Quest4Change.

About the charity:

Quest4Change's vision is a world where people live without poverty in a clean and protected natural environment. We work with local partner organisations on small-scale grassroots projects in Africa and South America; projects that target the specific causes of poverty and environmental destruction in their community. We offer long-term support to our project partners by providing them with volunteers and funds for their work.

We are a small charity, one that was born out of and remains intrinsically linked to our sister volunteering organisation Quest Overseas. The majority of our income currently depends on the number of volunteers recruited through Quest Overseas, however one of our main strategic aims is to move away from volunteer support and increase the funding we receive from other income streams.

Job purpose:

The Board of Trustees are responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the charity, developing the organisation's aims, objectives and goals in accordance with the governing document, legal and regulatory guidelines.

Job description:

*Location: offer remote support and attend quarterly Trustee meetings in Brighton
*Hours: attend four Trustee meetings a year, regular remote involvement via email or telephone and regular review of reports and documentation
*Salary: N/A - this is an unpaid, voluntary role
*Term of office: one year minimum
*Accountable to: since the Board are responsible and liable for the governance and functioning of the charity, they are accountable in varying degrees to a variety of stakeholders, including: beneficiaries, funders, the Charity Commission and Companies House

Main responsibilities:
*To ensure that the charity and its representatives function within the legal and regulatory framework of the sector and in line with the organisation's governing document.
*To uphold the fiduciary duty invested in the position, undertaking such duties in a way that adds to public confidence and trust in the charity.
*To determine the overall direction and development of the charity through good governance and clear strategic planning.

Main duties:
*Ensure the charity complies with legislative and regulatory requirements
*Agree and monitor the charity's strategic direction
*Promote and develop the charity in order for it to grow according to its strategic objectives
*Maintain sound financial management of the charity's resources
*Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the charity and its resources
*Play a key role in developing the charity's future funding strategy

*Willingness and ability to commit the necessary time and effort to Quest4Change
*Strategic leadership and decision-making experience
