A charity which aims to provide services that help people in tough situations turn their lives around are currently recruiting for a Learning Support Assistant in the Bracknell area to support the Study Programme and Work Experience offering for 16-18year olds.
The Study Programme ensures all learning content is tailored to individual needs, interests and aspirations, and all programmes are designed to complement both vocational and academic learner pathways. Through the programme young people are supported to gain the skills required to progress into apprenticeship training, employment or further education. They also experience life in work whilst taking part in the programme's social enterprise group.
Programmes are usually between three and six months in length (unless the learner takes an NVQ Level 1 qualification, which lasts for 12 months) and consist of three main components:
personal and social development including employability skills
functional skills (English and Maths).
Young people are supported with:
an individual plan with realistic and achievable goals
the development of employability skills
regular one-to-one progress meetings
information, advice and guidance about employment, training and education options available
The Learning Support Assistant will support the young people on a 1:1 and small group basis with vocational and functional skills lessons, helping them to engage with the work as well as provide holisitic support to key students.
The hours of work will be part time to start with (approx 18hours) between 9:30am -3pm Mon- Wed with remaining hours made up on a Thursday, before becoming a full time 30hour position as learner numbers are confirmed at the start of the new academic year.
This will be a temporary position starting ASAP with a view to then be taken onto a rolling permanent contract directly with the organisation.
You will be required to hold or be willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check as well as hold relevant experience working with young people.
