CAMRATPP are pleased to be partnering with the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) for a business critical Senior IT Manager position. The role will be based at CAMRA headquarters in St Albans and will involve leading on the organisation’s IT strategy, projects and processes, whilst managing a team of 2.

CAMRA is a not-for-profit consumer group with nearly 180,000 members that has been operating since 1971. Their vision is to have quality real ale and thriving pubs in every community. They are a volunteer-led organisation, with a small, enthusiastic and committed staff team of almost 50 people. CAMRA is independent and their objectives are wholly membership driven. All proceeds are put back into achieving their campaigning objectives and they have no commercial interests.

As the most senior IT professional on the staff team, this role will provide strong leadership expertise to establish a clearer strategic direction for the organisation, as well as offering technical expertise in new technology.

Duties in the role will include:

  • Providing overall strategic and operational leadership of information management and technology – covering: planning, development, evaluation and coordination of all related initiatives
  • Creation and delivery of a detailed technology roadmap
  • Lead the development and maintenance of the organisation’s information technology policies and systems
  • Implement and maintain an IT security strategy
  • Development of and delivery to IT budgets
  • Oversee the implementation of an IT business continuity plan
  • Rationalise the existing infrastructure and improve outputs from the systems; consolidation of existing systems and processes
  • Manage, develop and train the IT team
  • Attendance of committee meetings (sometimes at weekends and evenings)

Requirements for this role:

  • Experience in leading an organisation’s IT department through a period of change
  • A mature and tactful management approach with the ability to deal with internal stakeholders alongside external vendors
  • Experience developing an IT vision and technology roadmaps
  • An in-depth IT background spanning architecture, development, infrastructure and project management
  • Prince 2 or similar project management qualification or framework
  • Experience with emerging technologies including cloud-based and mobility systems
  • An interest in Real Ale and membership focused campaigning is desirable, though not essential
