Job Description - EXPIRED

This role will help us save lives at sea by providing inspirational leadership to the Trustee Board and Council, enabling the Trustees and Council to fulfil their responsibilities for the governance and strategic direction and supporting the whole organisation.

Time commitment:
50-100 days per year; likely to include at least one visit per month to Poole HQ, plus visits to coastal and branch communities throughout the year.

Volunteer area:
South West Region, Scotland, Eastern Region, Northern Ireland, North Region, London and SE Region, Ireland, West Region (including Wales), Poole Headquarters.

Closing Date:
6th September 2015

These are exciting times for the RNLI as we work towards halving coastal fatalities in the UK and Republic of Ireland by 2024. The next Chair of the RNLI will be pivotal in leading our lifesaving charity to achieve this ambitious goal so we are looking for someone with passion, commitment and skills to support us through this journey.

The new Vice Chair will work alongside our current Chair, Charles Hunter-Pease, over the coming months and would be expected to succeed him when he retires, subject to the processes outlined in the recruitment pack attached. The recruitment pack contains full details of the application process, including the timetable and role profile for the Vice Chair and Chair.

This is a volunteer opportunity within the RNLI. RNLI volunteers are people who, unpaid and of their own free will, contribute their time, energy and skills to support the purposes of the RNLI. RNLI volunteers may perform a variety of tasks and duties, under direction and guidance, using their skills, knowledge and time to help the RNLI best achieve its objectives.

We respect and honour our volunteers by building trust and understanding. Such a partnership is not intended to be a legally binding contract or to have mutuality of obligation, but instead express a voluntary two-way commitment where everyone gains satisfaction from being part of our organisation.
