For the right person, this role is a fantastic opportunity for someone to join one of the Charity worlds best known brands in a prominent role to lead their media activity in the UK and internationally.
This role will manager and input the generation of reactive and proactive media reports, briefings and press releases to influence the key stake holders of the charity and to protect and enhance it's brand and by extension, it's effectiveness. The role will use digital and social media as well as traditional media communication to build awareness around the issues of international and especially UK poverty. You will be the primary owner of key relationships within the media and may be required at times to travel within the UK and internationally to provide 'on the ground' support.
The key to success in this role, beyond the basic skills required, will be the level of accountability experienced in previous roles. Due to the complex and often vulnerable positions that stakeholders and beneficiaries of the charity will be in and the prominent position the charity holds, information in the media must be both succinct and accurate. Candidates will also need excellent political awareness and the ability to work and lead independently.
Ideally, a successful candidate will have some background in government organisations as well as experience within a charity or news. It would be advantageous but not absolutely necessary to have knowledge of issues within UK Poverty. You would also have the flexibility to be on call out of hours (on a rotation basis) and for occasional international travel.
