Job Description - EXPIRED

The LankellyChase Foundation seeks 2 Investment Committee members. The committee meets 3 times p.a. to oversee the 4 firms who manage the £140m expendable endowment.

LankellyChase’s mission is to bring about change that will transform the quality of life of people who face severe and multiple disadvantage. By severe and multiple disadvantage we mean the persistent clustering of severe social harms, particularly homelessness, substance misuse, mental and physical illness, extreme poverty, and violence and abuse.”

Following the retirement of two long-standing committee members, we are now looking to recruit two suitably experienced, independent individuals as co-opted members of the Investment Committee. These are voluntary roles although we do refund related travel expenses.

The intention is that the co-opted members will enhance the ability of the committee in relation to the investment of the £140m expendable endowment and with making recommendations to the main Board, including in terms of responsible and ethical investment, which are important to us.

We are looking for applicants who have extensive experience in managing or overseeing multi-asset (including cash, bonds and equities) investment portfolios and will enhance the ability of the investment committee to assess:

  • The appropriateness of the investment strategy in relation to the short and long-term return objectives and risk tolerance of the Foundation
  • The merits of any changes to the investment strategy
  • Whether the fund managers are executing the agreed strategy effectively.

It would also be helpful if the co-opted members had:

  • An understanding of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship of a charitable organisation
  • No conflicts of interests which could constrain their contribution to the investment committee
  • Experience of ethical investment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with trustees, staff and fund managers with diplomacy and friendliness
  • A willingness to speak out and an ability to respect the views of others
  • Commitment to working in ways that promote equality and tackle discrimination of all kinds.

If you think that you can work collaboratively with a high quality trustee and staff team and are keen to support us with your time and expertise, we would very much like to hear from you.
