ICYE UK (Inter-Cultural Youth Exchange UK) is an International Volunteering Charity that both sends volunteers abroad and provides placements for international volunteers in the UK. ICYE UK is seeking a part-time Hosting Programme Intern for 3 days per week for a minimum of four months. The purpose of the ICYE Hosting Programme is to find suitable voluntary placements for international volunteers in the UK and support the volunteers throughout their time here. 

The Hosting Programme Intern supports the Hosting Programme Coordinator in the delivery of the programme. Responsibilities of this position will include:

• Communication with the ICYE international volunteer team in the UK

• Assisting in the preparation and running of training events

• Assisting in the updating of documents and the hosting programme pages on our website

• Administrative support to the hosting programme.

The position would suit an individual who is looking to gain experience in the International Volunteering Sector. The candidate does not need a lot of experience; just enthusiasm, the ability to work on their own initiative and an interest in working with people from a wide range of different cultures. Admin skills would also be desirable. The position would be for 3 days per week (days are negotiable) to start as soon as possible. Lunch and travel costs within London can be reimbursed.

The Hosting Programme Internship is for 3 days per week for a minimum period of 4 months.

Personal Specifications

This role will suit someone interested in working with people from a wide range of different cultures. Candidates should have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and enjoy meeting new people.

Some experience in event planning.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Communicating and supporting international volunteers in the UK

  • Maintaining friendly communication.
  • Maintaining birthday calendar.
  • Checking ICYE UK social media groups & advertising events on them.
  • Keeping volunteers aware of cultural and social events in the UK.
  • Encourage volunteers to input to newsletters when necessary.

Administrative Support of the Hosting Programme

  • Filing and Photocopying.
  • Organising and maintaining volunteers documents.
  • Ensuring all required documents are received and recorded before the volunteers arrival to the UK.
  • Keeping project information up to date.
  • Creating information materials, brochures, etc.
  • Helping update and create new material for the Hosting Programme pages of ICYE UK website.

Trainings/ Camps

  • Sourcing suitable venues, gathering / preparing materials, training plan.
  • Assisting with preparation of ICYE Camps in particular the On Arrival Camp in August. 
  • Booking train and coach travel for volunteers.
  • Creating ‘Welcome to the UK’ and ‘Project Packs’ for all new volunteers.
  • Attending ICYE Camps – being open to helping with any aspects of the Camp – cooking, training assistance, entertainment, etc.


  • Developing or continuing new projects in line with the needs of the organisation and your own interests.


ICYE UK can reimburse daily travel costs within Greater London and £3 for the cost of lunch.
