TPP’s client, an established homeless charity is looking for a Head of Housing to work at their offices in East Surrey.
As the leading supplier of supported housing in the East Surrey area, our client is adept in responding to the needs of individuals and communities, with a focus on those who are young, vulnerable or disadvantaged. The job of Head of Housing will be crucial in furthering the aims of our client. As a senior role the position will involve managing the provision of housing services within the organisation and as such will require a solid understanding of the supported housing sector. Reporting to the CEO and board of directors, this position will require a certain degree of both leadership and strategic thinking to provide a framework for meeting the growth and development needs of the service. The Head of Housing will be directly responsible for a Housing Support Team and will also be working extensively with external partners and commissioners, establishing productive relationships to inform future planning.
The successful candidate will have held a previous management role and have demonstrable experience within the Supported Housing sector. Additionally, a clear knowledge of both government legislation and statutory guidelines surrounding supported housing is a must; particularly in regards to Looked After Children, Care Leavers and other vulnerable groups. Experience of delivering contracts for local authorities will be required, as will the ability to write proposals and bids for new housing work. The right candidate will need to be a passionate advocate for the need for safe supported housing and be willing to actively promote these values. A skilled negotiator, the candidate will be proactive in preventing and resolving conflict with the ability to manage challenging behaviour; while enabling others to do so in turn. Our client needs to fill this position with a dynamic leader who can innovate and apapt this service to changes to Housing legislation in the coming years.
