The Chartered Institute of Building, the world's largest and most influential professional body at the heart of a management career in construction are recruiting for an exciting new role to head up their new Academy which will support technical staff in developing their managerial capabilities ensuring support throughout a career from site to boardroom.

The CIOB Academy will provide a blended learning offering to provide executive education and development enabling middle managers to progress their competence to take on strategic roles and preparation for Board positions, with particular emphasis on achieving a broad and balanced talent base for the industry.

The Academy will develop three streams of business- Professional Education, Certifications and Knowledge Hub and these offerings will be rooted in the context of construction, delivered with employer input in an innovative way utilising technology to enhance learning and assessment.

The Head of Academy will report directly to the Deputy Chief Executive and the Academy Board, and be responsible for its development and work.

You will provide strategic and operational management for the Academy, from establishing its place in the education and training marketplace through to developing and implementing courses and certifications for niche markets where gaps currently exist, ensuring these are consistent with the Institute's standards and enable progression to CIOB Certification or Chartered membership.

You will also establish systems and processes for the efficient management of the Academy, identifying and managing business improvement opportunities and increasing profitability over time.

The right candidate for this role will have:

  • Extensive management experience in a CBE Training, Development, Education or Learning environment
  • Familiarity with managing on line learning and distance learning
  • Experience of managing quality assurance
  • Experience of delivering qualifications within a regulatory framework
  • Experience of delivering at undergraduate degree level or RQF Level 6, and preferably Master's level or RQF Level 7

It is also important that you can bring to the role experience of strategy development and implementation and managing change. Excellent project management skills are also a must, along with strong influencing, negotiating and marketing skills.
